WHO DOESN’T LOVE THE IDEA OF PERMANENT MAKEUP? FORGET LIPSTICK THAT FEATHERS, LEAVING SMUDGES ON CLOTHING AND GLASSWARE. SWIM OR RUN A MARATHON WITH YOUR MAKEUP STILL INTACT!

It’s time to change the conversation from permanent to semi-permanent makeup

Semi-permanent makeup is a better choice than permanent makeup. The difference between a semi-permanent tattoo and a permanent one is based on how deeply the ink is injected into the skin.

Seduced by the allure of permanent makeup

Many women have been seduced by the allure of permanent makeup and have embraced tattooed brows and eyeliner. But tattooed eyebrows are not the easy solution they might seem to be.

Skin is an organ with three layers. Tattooing penetrates all the way into the third layer of the skin. Microblading, on the other hand, deposits pigment on just the outer layer of the skin. Microblading is semi-permanent. The depth of penetration determines a tattoo’s permanence. The deeper you go, the longer it stays. While tattoos will fade, they don’t disappear.

A developing problem with tattooed eyebrows

One of the problems with tattooed brows is that the colors inevitably fade; they can blur into unpleasant shades of blue and gray. Another issue is that eyebrow styles change. Once you have a tattooed brow, you’d better love it because it’s the style you’ll be stuck with for the rest of your life.

Safely removing tattooed brows with a salt/saline solution

Using a special tool that punctures the skin and opens up the brow area, a salt/saline paste is applied that safely draws the tattoo pigment to the skin’s surface and gently exfoliates it away.

Jillian uses Li-FT, recognized as the safest, most effective saline lightening solution on the market. It’s an all-natural product, made from salt and fruit-seed extract. Depending on the density of the pigment, it will take 2-4 sessions to remove the tattoo.

Tattoo removal and aftercare

Expect some minor bleeding and bruising with the tattoo removal procedure. The brow area will be tender for a few days. It’s important to follow these instructions to avoid scarring and infection. Keep in mind that the brow area has been punctured; the healing process will be like that o

f a minor cut or wound to any other part of your body. There will be slight swelling, tenderness, scabbing and itching as the brow area heals.

Keep area clean and dry, open to the air–do not cover with a band-aid. Avoid frequent touching. If you need to touch the area, use a hand sanitizer. Do not apply ice or soak the treated area in water. Shower as normal but keep the area out of the spray. If wet, gently pat the area dry. Avoid bathing, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, tanning or exercise. No exceptions. Avoid disrupting the scabbing process. This is part of the healing process. Scabs need to fall off naturally. If you force or pick a scab off, you will disrupt the healing process and may cause scarring. Keeping the scabs on as long as possible will help achieve optimum results. Once all scabbing has naturally fallen off, apply a drop of vitamin E oil 3-4 times throughout the day for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until the next lightening session. Do not begin the vitamin E oil application until all scabbing has naturally and completely fallen off.

Jillian is skilled at removing tattooed eyebrows that are too dark, discolored or mismatched.

Many of the women she treats have gotten tattooed brows from a friend or at a “great price”. But as Jillian cautions in her blog, you get what you pay for. If you’re considering microblading or powder brows, do your due diligence. Make sure the artist you select is trained and licensed.

Removal can be a long, expensive process, and the area must completely heal before new eyebrows can be created.
